Our platform connects active-duty service members, veterans, civilian professionals, and other individuals in need of housing with trusted hosts and flexible accommodations, tailored for short- and mid-term stays.

How It Works – For Greenmatees (Tenants)
As a Greenmatee, you’ll gain access to furnished, well-maintained homes in welcoming communities—without the high upfront costs typically associated with moving. We handle utility setup, general maintenance, and provide essential household items so you can settle in comfortably and integrate with ease. This model allows you to enjoy high-quality living while reducing the financial and logistical burden of relocation.

Greenmatees often include:

Individuals relocating temporarily before their family arrives (typically within 5–8 months)
Single professionals between leases who are saving for homeownership
Recently transferred employees or service members adjusting to a new city
Residents seeking safe, immediate alternatives due to housing insecurity
Weekend travelers whose permanent residence is within 250 miles of their new work location

How It Works – For Greenmaters (Hosts)
As a Greenmater, you can list your property and connect with reliable, verified tenants who are seeking short-term or transitional stays. This offers a unique opportunity to reduce your living expenses by 25% to 75%, while helping others through periods of change. You’ll maintain full control over who stays in your home, with access to scheduling tools, showing coordination, and tenant screening through our secure platform.

About the Founder – Jaquan Ross

I’m Jaquan Ross, Founder of GreenMate — a platform committed to delivering safe, reliable, and affordable transitional housing for individuals navigating sudden relocations or financial hardship. GreenMate was built to bridge the gap between trusted hosts and those in need, with a focus on supporting active-duty service members, veterans, and civilian professionals facing housing transitions.

Military Background

My journey began in 2015 when I enlisted in the U.S. Army directly after high school, serving as a 91B Heavy Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. I deployed to Iraq during Operation Inherent Resolve and later was stationed in Germany as the COVID-19 pandemic reshaped the world. During that time, I pursued academic advancement within the Army, increasing my GT score to 127 while working toward a reclassification into more specialized fields (36B, 88N, or 25B). Due to personnel shortages in my original MOS I was unable to secure a class seat and successfully reclassify.

A Passion for Helping Others

Upon returning stateside, I played a key role in establishing operations at Pegasus Troop, the inprocessing unit for the 1st Cavalry Division. As part of the original cadre launching Pegasus in October 2021, I found a deep sense of purpose in helping people manage the stress and uncertainty of major life transitions. That experience planted the seed for what would eventually become GreenMate.

The Birth of GreenMate

After retiring from active duty, I wanted to continue serving my community in a meaningful way. That desire, combined with firsthand insight into the housing challenges faced by transitioning service members and professionals, led to the creation of GreenMate in October 2023. Since then, we’ve helped over 35 individuals successfully find transitional housing in and around the Fort Cavazos area — a number that continues to grow.

Educational Background

I hold an Associate of Applied Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management with a concentration in Program Management. These academic pursuits inform my commitment to operational excellence and scalable impact at GreenMate.
